At Cahokia High School, we recognize the need to improve the quality and impact of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The Perkins Performance Indicator Data highlights both our strengths and areas for growth. While we are proud of our Extended Graduation Rate and Nontraditional Program participation, the data shows we must improve in key areas like post-program placement, college credit attainment, and work-based learning opportunities.

CTE High School Student Survey Summary

This report, published on 7/14/25, presents findings from a student survey conducted at Cahokia High School to assess career interests, preferred CTE course offerings, and suggestions for program improvement. With 89.5% of students reporting defined career goals, the data reveals strong alignment between student aspirations and high-demand fields including health science, business, culinary arts, cosmetology, and digital design. Survey responses were further analyzed to evaluate alignment with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) CTE standards and federal Perkins V initiatives, particularly around career pathway development, work-based learning, and equitable program access. Students advocated for more hands-on experiences, expanded course choices, improved scheduling, and engaging instruction. The report concludes with actionable recommendations for both school and district-level CTE planning aimed at deepening career readiness, enhancing work-based learning, and ensuring students are supported in making informed, purposeful transitions into postsecondary opportunities.

The Cahokia High School CTE student survey is still open to students, and seeks input form students to strengthen and improve it's CTE programs. The survey gathers student feedback on potential program changes, and student responses will help guide decisions on course offerings, career pathways, and real-world experiences that align with post-graduation goals.

CTE High School Parent/Guardian Survey

Cahokia Unit School District 187 is working to strengthen Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs to better prepare students for college, careers, and life after graduation.

This short survey asks parents and guardians to share their thoughts on:

  • What CTE classes, certifications, or career pathways they’d like to see

  • How CTE can better support their child’s future

  • Ways they may want to get involved

Your input helps us improve programs, expand opportunities, and build stronger support systems for all students. A report on the survey results will be coming soon.
