Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at Penniman Elementary

At Penniman Elementary, we want every child to feel seen, valued, and supported. Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program helps create a positive, encouraging school environment where students are recognized for making good choices and learning important life skills.

How PBIS Works at Penniman

  • Panther Tokens: Students receive Panther Tokens when they are “caught” making positive choices, showing kindness, helping others, or meeting school expectations. These tokens can be saved and traded for points or prizes from the Panther Cart.

  • ClassDojo Points: Teachers use ClassDojo to celebrate positive behaviors in real time. Students can use points for classroom rewards, and we also offer schoolwide rewards for students who reach specific ClassDojo levels.

  • Fun Fridays: Students who consistently meet expectations during the week participate in Fun Friday activities as a way to celebrate their efforts.

  • Monthly Celebrations: Each month, students who have shown positive behavior throughout the month enjoy a special schoolwide celebration.

Why PBIS Matters

PBIS focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors rather than simply correcting mistakes. When students feel encouraged and supported, they develop responsibility, respect, and teamwork while building the confidence needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

How Families Can Partner With Us

Families are an essential part of the process. By connecting to your child’s class on ClassDojo, you can see their progress in real time and celebrate their successes at home. Ask your child about the tokens they earned or the next reward they are working toward. Together, we can help children feel proud of their accomplishments and excited to learn.
