11th Grade Associate Principal

A new school year brings new opportunities, new beginnings and new faces.
This school year, Cahokia High School (CHS) will have a new Administrative Team.
I am proud to be a member of this team.  I am Anson Mitchell and I will be the
eleventh-grade Associate Principal here at CHS.  This is my twenty-third year in education.
I began my administrative career here in Cahokia in 2006 at CHS.  I have served as an
administrator in East St. Louis School District #189 and in Alton Unit School District #10.
Last year, I returned to CHS as the 11th and 12th grade Associate Principal. Prior to becoming an
administrator, I taught in Chicago, Belleville, IL and Cahokia.

I was born and raised in East Saint Louis, IL; I am the youngest of nine children.
I graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School.  I am the proud father of two teenagers,
one boy and one girl.  I received my BA and Masters from Southern Illinois University
at Edwardsville.  I am a veteran of the US Army.  I believe proper education is a key to
success and can open many doors as well as provide countless opportunities.  I believe
it can balance the playing field no matter the environmental and economic changes
you are born into.
