Basic Promethean Set Up

Step 1:

Take the wide, flat rectangular end of the USB cable and plug it into a port on the computer that’s the same shape.  It will not matter which one you choose.

Step 2:

Then take the VGA cable (ends look the same) and plug it into the port that matches it on the right hand side of the computer.

Step 3:

On the bottom left side of the computer, you should see a button that slides to the right.  This is the power button.  Slide it to the right to turn on the computer.

Step 4:

Take the grayish white remote that should have been left in your room and press the red power button to turn on the projector.

Step 5:

If a screen comes up that says Project Monitor (or something like that) or Project Computer, use the down button on the remote to highlight Project computer and press select (middle button of the 4 directional arrows).

Step 6:

You may get a screen that says that it is not detecting the computer.  Wait until the computer is fully powered up and that you are logged in (control+alt+delete, press Ok or hit enter, leave “netuser” as the login name and just press enter.

If it’s still not detecting the computer, continue on to the next page.

If it is now projecting the computer, you should be able to begin using the board.

Think of the board as a giant touchscreen computer monitor.

Use your pens that came with the board as your mouse to select anything.

You can also control it with computer itself.

If it’s still not detecting the computer, then:

1.   Right click on a blank area of the desktop.

2.   Go to Graphics Options

3.   Go to Output To

  1. Go to Intel Dual Display
  2. Choose Notebook+Monitor  (make sure it’s worded in that order)

Once this is established you will need to adjust your screen resolution so the screen fits the entire board.  To do that you:

  1. Go to Start
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Click Display
  4. Click the Settings tab
  5. In the box that says Screen Resolution, move the sliding bar so it says 1024 by 768.

If it’s still not detecting the computer or you were not able to move the sliding bar so it says 1024 by 768, then:

1.   Unplug the VGA cable from the netbook.

2.   Go to Start

3.   Go to Control Panel

4.   Click Display

5.   Click the Setting tab

6.   In the box that says Screen Resolution, move the sliding bar so it says 1024 by 768.

7.   Click Apply

8.   Click Ok

9.   Plug your VGA cable into your netbook.

My pen is spiking when I write

  • Turn board off (sometimes you have to unplug it) and turn back on again

The Lamp Replace light is on, on my projector

  • This means that the projector thinks based on the number of hours your projector has been on that your lamp is going to go out. It may last several more weeks or months, or it could go out tomorrow.
