2020 - 2021 Stakeholder Communication

Memo #2

June 29, 2020

On June 24, 2020, ISBE released guidance to school districts regarding the transition back to school for the 2020-2021 school year. On June 26, Cahokia #187 conducted a transition meeting inclusive of district leaders, campus leaders, and staff. The group reviewed the guidance document and determined to subdivide into three working groups - instruction, health and wellness, operations and facilities.  Both the whole group and three working groups are meeting again July 1 and 2 to continue planning.

Below are components of the guidance that are applicable to everyone and can be expected to be implemented next school year. Please review so all staff, students, and stakeholders are aware of required expectations in a timely manner.

  • All staff and students must wear masks / shields at all times at school and on the bus.

  • Body temperature checks will be administered daily to all staff and students.

  • Access to campus will be limited. All individuals that come to campus will be required to wear a face covering and complete a temperature screening.

  • Modifications to bus routes and capacities will be implemented to comply with guidance.

  • Modifications to food service will be implemented to comply with guidance.

  • No more than 50 people will be allowed in one space at a time.

  • We encourage all parents to complete the district survey when disseminated.

We will continue to communicate as more plans are finalized. Thanks for your attention to these updates.
